So. It’s really not a good idea to let me loose by myself to explore an unfamiliar city. Even worse of an idea is that I decided to do this on my own when I don’t have a car charger for my phone and I was relying on my GPS to get me everywhere.
Just to clarify, I have no sense of direction whatsoever. When I lived in Virginia, I got lost in any town other than my own, even the neighboring ones I had grown up visiting. Therefore, it’s no surprise that when I went out yesterday, and my phone died (from overuse of GPS, no less), I spent quite a while driving around in circles. Luckily, every city/town somehow connects where I live, so even though it took me 20 times as long to get home, I still managed somehow. After about five detours.
Oh, and if you’re unfamiliar with “The Michigan Left,” let me give you a quick briefing:
There are very few traffic lights up here that actually let you turn left onto a main road. Instead, you may turn right to go one direction, or go further up the road to turn left at a sort of little median inlet. Most of them have their own traffic lights.
Fun, no?
Anyway, it’s Friday, which is a happy thing in itself. I’m currently too creeped out to visit our extra upstairs bathroom since I saw three maggots pulling their limp, useless, and totally mortifying, squishy, little bodies across the tile floor . . . but other than that, I’d say today has to be decent, right?
