Heyyyy, Michiganders (and burger lovers everywhere): Dearborn hotspot Brome Modern Eatery has finally made the trek to downtown Detroit! I hope you’re hungry, because this fine-casual restaurant (somewhere between quick-casual and full table service) has something for every taste bud imaginable.

While I often still refer to it as “Brome Burger,” Brome Modern Eatery is worthy of all the hype you’ll see sprinkled across Instagram. Brome assumed its new “Modern Eatery” title last year (a switch made to include a growing menu and the addition of a new Balence Juice Bar) and the connotation couldn’t be more spot-on. With organic, grass-fed beef, options for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets, and ethically-sourced ingredients, Brome serves up uber-fresh ingredients for trendy, American-style food that doesn’t sacrifice flavor or quality.

Brome Modern Eatery in Downtown Detroit – New Menu Highlights:
– Buttermilk fried crispy chicken sandwich with McClure’s pickles, shredded romaine, and whole grain mustard aioli
– The Impossible Burger (a plant-based, beef alternative)
– Five new dipping sauces: truffle aioli, maple siracha, garlic cilantro, chipotle ketchup, and honey mustard
– Balence Bar juices and smoothies made from fresh-cut fruits and vegetables
Probably the first thing you’ll notice about Brome’s Detroit location is the windowed walkway that stretches over Shelby Street. Inside the second-story covered bridge is Brome’s Balence Juice Bar, where guests can sip on fresh smoothies while enjoying awesome views of downtown. This area alone is worth a visit, so even if you’re not up to a full meal, head upstairs for a sit-and-sip while you daydream or chat with friends.

If you ARE feeling up to some food, however, you won’t regret staying downstairs for a while in Brome’s modern, plant-centric dining room. Here and throughout the building, you’ll find surfaces that are original to the historic building, as well as a two-story living wall that will soon spread to canopy the dining room ceiling. If you’ve ever dreamed of eating inside The Secret Garden, this is your chance.
