‘Some Like It Hot’ Brings Laughs, Schemes, and Dreams to the Fisher Theatre

Debuting on Broadway in 2023, Some Like It Hot is a hilarious musical take on the classic Marilyn Monroe film that’s catered to modern audiences. Some Like It Hot in Detroit: Show Details

Set in Chicago when Prohibition has everyone thirsty for a little excitement, Some Like It Hot is the “glorious, big, high-kicking” (Associated Press) story of two musicians forced to flee the Windy City after witnessing a mob hit. With gangsters hot on their heels, the two friends catch a cross-country train for the life-changing trip of a lifetime.Based on the 1959 film starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon, Some Like It Hot features a book by Matthew López (The Inheritance) and Amber Ruffin (“The Amber Ruffin Show”), music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman (Hairspray) and direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon).

* Tuesday through Saturday evening performances at 7:30 p.m.
* Saturday matinees at 2:00 p.m.
* Sunday matinees at 1:00 p.m.
* Sunday evening performances at 6:30 p.m.
* Special Open Caption performance on Sunday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m.
