9 Broadway Shows Coming to Detroit This Spring 2026

It’s no secret that Detroit sees its share of top-tier theatre, and this spring is no different! I hope you’re ready for Broadway in Detroit’s upcoming lineup, because there is SO much to enjoy this season.

Monty Python’s SPAMALOT (January 29 – 31, 2026)*

Adapted from the classic film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT first hit Broadway in 2005 and was nominated for 14 Tony Awards (it won 3—including Best Musical!). This musical comedy has all of the components that make a great “knight” at the theatre, from flying cows to killer rabbits, British royalty to French taunters, rubbery shrubbery, and of course, the Lady of the Lake.

*Due to inclement weather, the original start date of SPAMALOT in Detroit has been updated to January 29.

The Phantom of the Opera (February 4 – 15, 2026)

Since 1986, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera has played to over 160 million people in 205 cities, 58 territories, and 21 languages. Discover the story of The Phantom and his protĂ©gĂ©, Christine, through haunting songs such as “The Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You,” and “Masquerade.”

Kinky Boots (February 5 – 8, 2026)

Winner of Tony, Grammy, and London’s Olivier Awards for Best Musical, Kinky Boots follows the journey of shoe factory owner, Charlie, and drag entertainer, Lola, as they work together to save Charlie’s family business. This unlikely pair discovers they have more in common than they realized, learning that you can change the world when you change your mind.

The Outsiders (March 3 – 15, 2026)

Based on the novel by S.E. Hinton and Francis Ford Coppola’s landmark motion picture, The Outsiders follows Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade, and their Greaser family of “outsiders” as they battle affluent rivals, the Socs. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1967, this Tony Award-winning musical illustrates a story of friendship, family, and belonging.

Disney’s The Lion King (March 12 – April 5, 2026)

As it approaches 30 years on Broadway, Disney’s The Lion King continues its ascendance as one of the most popular stage musicals of all time. The Broadway score blends songs from the original animated film with additional musical material to create a fusion of Western popular music and the distinctive sounds and rhythms of Africa. Come for the songs and story you love, leave mesmerized by the amazing costume design and live stage interpretation.

Mamma Mia! (March 24 – 29, 2026)

The sunny, funny tale of a mother, daughter, and three possible dads unfolds in the 25th anniversary production of Mamma Mia! Enjoy storytelling magic through timeless ABBA songs and learn why this ultimate feel-good show has captured the hearts of millions around the world since 1999.

& Juliet (March 31 – April 12, 2026)

What would happen if Juliet didn’t end it all over Romeo? Find out in this musical twist on the Shakespearean love story, told through a playlist of iconic pop anthems like “Since U Been Gone,” “Baby One More Time,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”

Suffs (April 14 – 26, 2026)

The first national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical, Suffs, arrives in Detroit this spring with a “thrilling, inspiring, and dazzlingly entertaining” (Variety) story about the passionate American women who fought tirelessly for the right to vote. Suffs is the winner of the Outer Critics’ Circle Award for Best New Musical, two Drama Desk Awards including Best Score, and is “unquestionably the most emotionally stirring musical of the season” (Chicago Tribune).
