Disclosure: This post is written in collaboration with Broadway in Detroit.

I vaguely remember the time frame when I first learned about the unique percussion ensemble, STOMP. I’m pretty sure I was in high school, and it was one of those days where the teacher decided to play a VHS because they were grading papers or we’d just finished a big project or something. Come to think of it, it must have been in band class because I remember seeing a recording of Cirque du Soleil around the same time—but that was in French class. But none of that matters for the sake of this post, so I digress.

Regardless of how or when I came to know about STOMP, the fact is that I’ve known about this unconventionally-fun percussion show for nearly two decades, yet haven’t seen it live on stage. So, you know what? IT’S ABOUT TIME WE CORRECTED THAT.

So, here we go, friends … grab a bucket and a stick, and make like Doug in his “Bangin’ On A Trash Can” debut … because it’s time to get pumped for STOMP live in Detroit.

STOMP At Detroit’s Music Hall: Show Details

If you’ve never heard of STOMP, it’s safe to say that this global sensation will completely change the way you look at everyday objects. That’s because in this energy-filled spectacular, performers create rhythm from anything and everything that makes sound. Stiff-bristled brooms, shopping carts, and more—nothing is off-limits in this fiery, comedic, and entrancing production.

Created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, STOMP continues its phenomenal run with four global productions: The ongoing sell-out production at New York’s Orpheum Theatre, a permanent London company, and North American and European tours. Winner of an Olivier Award for Best Choreography (London’s Tony Award), a New York Obie Award, a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatre Experience, and a Special Citation from Best Plays, STOMP is an overwhelming success marked by rave reviews, awards, and sell-out engagements.

In addition to stage shows, STOMP has also received an Academy Award nomination, four Emmy nominations, and one Emmy Award for the acclaimed HBO special Stomp Out Loud, noteworthy TV appearances including The London 2012 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony, The Academy Awards, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and a series of award-winning international commercials.
