This article is written in partnership with Broadway in Detroit. I received complimentary tickets to see Les Misérables at the Fisher Theatre in exchange for promoting this show.

Do you hear the people sing?

If you’re a musical lover like me, you can probably already hear the drums and passionate voices belting out those six little words. The refrain coincides with the bittersweet tale found in the Tony award-winning Les Misérables, currently on tour and coming to the Fisher Theatre February 27th through March 11th!

Written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and produced for English audiences by Cameron Mackintosh, Les Misérables first opened in London in 1985 and has played in hundreds of cities across the world ever since (making it the fifth longest-running Broadway production of all time). The story follows the lives of multiple characters in 19th century France, detailing their pains, struggles, and passions within an overarching theme of suffering and redemption. Today, Les Misérables continues to break box office records all over the globe and is well known for its popular score, featuring songs like “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “One Day More,” and “Do You Hear the People Sing.”

I’m so excited to finally see this classic musical on stage (I’ve seen the film version and it was fantastic)! Have you seen Les Misérables live or are you planning on going when the show comes to the Fisher?

Hi! I'm Jennifer.
